YapCampus works because it's anonymous and safe. Anonymity lets you be honest; these guidelines make sure it never becomes a weapon. They apply to every post, comment, poll, image, and video on the Service, and they sit alongside our Terms of Use. Break them and your content can be blurred, restricted, or removed, and repeat or serious violations can get your account suspended or permanently banned.
The short version
- Be honest, be funny, be real - talk about campus life freely.
- Punch up, not down. Criticize ideas, classes, and systems, not individuals.
- Never expose who someone is. Anonymity protects everyone, including you.
- If it would get someone hurt in real life, it doesn't belong here.
1. No harassment or bullying
Don't target a specific person with insults, pile-ons, sexual harassment, or repeated unwanted attention. Naming and shaming a fellow student, professor, or staff member to humiliate them is not allowed.
2. No doxxing or sharing private information
Never post someone's real name alongside identifying details, phone number, home or hostel address, room number, private photos, chat screenshots, or social handles shared to identify or locate them. This is one of the fastest ways to a permanent ban.
3. No hate speech
No attacks or slurs based on caste, religion, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or nationality. Dehumanizing or discriminatory content is removed.
4. No threats or violence
Don't threaten, encourage, or glorify violence against any person or group. Credible threats are removed and may be reported to your campus and the authorities.
5. No sexual content involving minors - zero tolerance
Child sexual abuse material and non-consensual intimate imagery result in an immediate, permanent ban and a report to the relevant authorities. Sexually explicit content is not allowed on YapCampus.
6. Self-harm & crisis
Don't promote or glorify self-harm, suicide, or eating disorders. If you're struggling, please reach out to someone you trust or a local helpline - you matter, and this community wants you here.
7. No spam, scams, or manipulation
No spam, repetitive promotion, phishing, fake giveaways, or schemes to sell exam answers or assignments. Don't use multiple accounts, bots, or coordinated voting to manipulate the feed or polls.
8. No misinformation that causes harm
Don't knowingly spread false claims designed to endanger people or damage someone's reputation - for example, fake safety alerts or fabricated accusations against a named person.
9. Keep it yours
Don't impersonate another person or institution, and don't post content that infringes someone else's intellectual property or privacy rights.
How moderation works
Content is screened by automated systems, including AI, before or shortly after posting. Sensitive-but-legal content may be blurred behind a tap; dangerous or illegal content is removed outright. You can also report any post or comment for human review - reports are anonymous, and our team reviews every one.
When our team acts on a post or comment, it's replaced with a short notice so the conversation stays honest about what happened. A removed post has its comments turned off; a restricted or removed comment affects only that comment, not the rest of the thread. Misusing the report tool to silence legitimate speech is itself a violation.
Enforcement
Depending on severity and history, we may blur, restrict, or remove content, turn off comments, temporarily suspend an account, or issue a permanent ban. Serious real-world safety issues may be escalated to your campus or the authorities. You can appeal a decision by emailing hello@yapcampus.com.
Report something
See something that breaks these guidelines? Use the report option in the app (tap the ••• on a post, or press and hold a comment), or email hello@yapcampus.com. Thank you for helping keep your campus community safe.
